Disney for Grown Ups
Latest from Megan
Hi Disney lovers! If you stumbled across this page by accident (which I don’t see any other way you could have), welcome. My name is Megan and I’m a full grown adult who is married to Mason, and together we have a 17- year old son, two dogs, a cat, and a 40 lb tortoise. I’m a full time speech and language pathologist who absolutely adores children and focuses all my time on children throughout the work week. Yet, come the weekend or any other time off, I’m all about grown up time. Seeing as how Disney is one of my most favorite places to be, and let’s be honest, I have over 20 years of Disney grown up experience to share, I felt it was time to impart my wisdom upon others.
First of all, I’m going to admit that getting this far has taken me much, much longer than I care to admit. I don’t like to think of myself as technologically challenged, but developing this page has been a wake up call. #Meganistechnologicallychallenged. I hope to make this look nicer and fancier as I learn, but for now…eh. Hopefully my wit and charm are enough to make you keep reading. (Everyone clicks off this page at this moment).
For those of you still here, I am definitely what some would consider a Disney veteran (I just made that up). I have previously worked in all four theme parks including my time as a safari driver at Kilimanjaro Safaris, an animal presenter at DAK, and a Youth Education Series facilitator at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and MGM Studios (it was still called this back then so don’t correct me–you know you wanted to). I also spent two years living onboard the Disney Wonder as a children’s programmer. Wow, it’s been so long that I don’t even remember what our official title was but I entertained children while their parents did exactly what I’m here to talk about–had grown up time.
I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I hear people say that they don’t understand why I’m always at Disney. (Before you read the next few sentences, make sure you’re hearing them being read in a whiney little snot voice). “Disney is for kids.” “There’s too many kids at Disney.” “We don’t have children, why would we go to Disney.” “There’s too many strollers.” (Ok, I may have said that a few hundred times myself). **You can’t stop the whiney voice now.
Yes, Disney is for children. But it’s also for adults. There’s a whole world of Disney you probably won’t experience when taking the whole family on that vacation. Now don’t get me wrong. Take your kids. Do the family thing. Absolutely go for it. But I’m here to tell you that you can do the exact same things as adults, and it’s a whole different experience.
I’m going to share my experiences at the various restaurants, bars (so many bars), attractions, hotels, and all the other great things Disney has to offer. I’m not here to tell you how to “Disney on a dime” or anything like that. When I can give you tips and tricks, I will, but I’m just going to share how my friends and I Disney. I’ll happily give any advice I can or if you want to know about specific places, leave me a comment. If I can’t answer it, I will find someone who can. I’m also up for recommendations.
This is simply my introductory post so no major fun content just yet. If you are on Instagram, give me a follow: @meganandmollydodisney. Molly is my Disney BFF and many of my stories will involve her, along with other friends who have no idea that I’ll be writing about them. I’m so excited to share my experiences and look forward to interacting with others as well. If you have read this far, thank you. It’s gonna be a fun ride.
Peace, Love, and Mickey…
Megan.
